Welcome to ZAA
Zanzibar Airports Authority was established under Act No. 8 of 2011 as a government agency. We proudly operate Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (AAKIA) and Pemba Airport, serving as the primary aviation gateway to the beautiful Zanzibar Archipelago.
Located just 5 kilometres south of Zanzibar City, our international airport connects travelers from around the world to one of Africa's most stunning island destinations. It was previously known as Kisauni Airport and Zanzibar International Airport, and was renamed in 2010 in honour of Abeid Amani Karume, Zanzibar's first president.
